One Year in Fabric: Lessons Learned from Implementing Real-World Projects

Real-world projects come with real-world frustrations – and celebrations! Over the past year, we have implemented multiple Fabric solutions from proof-of-concepts through production. In this session, we will share our journey from figuring out the optimal architecture in our first solution to becoming an international team working on several projects in parallel.

We will start with how we interpreted and designed the medallion architecture and show how we went from logical concepts to implementing actual environments, workspaces, and lakehouses. Then, we will explain how we set up git repositories, defined branching strategies to enable conflict-free team development, and how we used pull requests and deployment pipelines to roll out changes from dev to test to production. Finally, we will share how we used the Fabric Capacity Metrics App to tune one solution from an F64 trial capacity down to an F8 production capacity.

Join us for an honest conversation about why we changed our minds about certain Fabric features, the challenges we faced, the lessons learned along the way, and the things we would have done differently if we could start all over again.
