The Microsoft Power Platform features coming in the 2023 release wave 1 have been summarized in a separate release plan as well as a downloadable PDF
Improved Data Governance
Power BI now provides enhanced data governance features, including data lineage and sensitivity labels. This allows administrators to track the origin of data and maintain better control over sensitive data, ensuring that it is only accessible to authorized users.
More Powerful Analytics Capabilities
With the latest release, Power BI has expanded its analytics capabilities with new features like Smart Narratives and Explain the Increase/Decrease.
Smart Narratives is a natural language generation (NLG) feature that automatically creates human-like narratives to explain insights and trends. Meanwhile, Explain the Increase/Decrease helps users understand the factors contributing to the change in their data.
Enhanced Integration with Microsoft Teams
Power BI now integrates more closely with Microsoft Teams, providing users with more options to collaborate on data and insights. The new Teams Meeting Integration feature allows users to present Power BI reports directly within Teams meetings, making it easier to share insights and collaborate with others.
More Intuitive User Interface
The latest release of Power BI also includes several updates to the user interface, making it more intuitive and easier to use. The new drag-and-drop capability for creating visualizations allows users to quickly create and customize reports and dashboards.
Improved Performance
Power BI’s performance has also been improved with several enhancements to the platform’s underlying architecture. These updates include faster rendering times for visuals and improved connectivity to data sources, making it easier to work with large datasets.
These are just a few of the many updates included in Release Wave 1 for 2023 for Power BI.
